The End of Keeping Up With The Kardashians

After 14 years, the iconic show “Keeping up with the Kardashians” is sadly coming to an end. The Kardashian family has significantly influenced mainstream culture and trends since the show started. It brought joy to many as people tuned in on the busy lives of these sisters. Unfortunately, COVID-19 has put this family through a rough year, with most of their big plans being canceled. According to “Digital Spy,” the sisters Kim, Kourtney, and Kylie had threatened to quit the show because of Kourtney’s recent breakup and a big on-screen fight with her sister. Also, the viewership has been declining, with Season 18’s viewpoint dropping below a million. Younger generations are using social media platforms instead of watching television. “[The Kardashians] relevance is not on TV; their relevance is on Snapchat and social media,” says Eunice Shin, a partner at brand and business consultancy Prophet, told LA Times. In addition to this, he also said, “They are absolute brand marketers, and that’s what they exist for. They don’t necessarily need television to do that.” As it seems, it is more than likely that these sisters being very public on social media made it difficult for the show to stay relevant because their frequent drama would air months after the world would hear about it.

To remember this amazing show, let’s take a trip down memory lane and remember some of the best moments.

  1. Kim lost her diamond earring in the ocean during her stay in Bora Bora. This episode became one of the most popular Kardashian moments because of Kourtney’s response: “Kim, they’re people that are dying.”
  2. Kim, Kourtney, and Khloe snuck out to Mexico to model swimwear; however, their secret was soon leaked.
  3. Shortly after Kim’s divorce, her relationship with Kanye began, and they eventually became one of the most iconic relationships!

This show has had so much impact on American popular culture and has brought countless laughs and tears as we got to watch these sisters grow up and the family grow stronger. We will definitely miss it, but its iconic memory and influence will live on!
