GC Falcons Bring Home the Homecoming Game Victory!

Falcons Finish off the Knights in Epic Fashion!

In the homecoming game last Friday, September 27, our Good Counsel Falcons fed an epic win to the hungry, spirit-filled crowd. By the third quarter of the game, the Falcons looked in good shape, scoring an unanswered 14 points with the support of the hyped-up crowd, chock full of students pumped by spirit week and excited for the homecoming dance.

“The crowd drove us to keep fighting. We see these people in the hall every day, and to hear them cheering us on gives us a great sense of pride.”

But, the Friendship Collegiate Knights fought back, bringing the score to 14-12 by the fourth quarter. After a few defensive stops, the game seemed to be down to one last drive. The Knights had four minutes to drive down the field, score, and win. However, our dominant defense had another Idea. As the Knights’ drive started picking up speed, a significant change of momentum occurred: Senior Linebacker Caleb Dennis intercepted the ball and ran it back for a touchdown. The sideline and crowd erupted in cheers as the Falcons denied the Knights their chance to come back with an epic pick-six.

The defense played exceptionally well, scoring twice and shutting out the Knights offense for most of the game. Caleb said, “the defense balled out, and we played as a unit.” The offense played great too, turning a 3rd & 17 into a touchdown pass to Wide Receiver Jaylen Dotson during a crucial point in the game. The spirit week crowd was also critical to the team’s win. Caleb said, “The crowd drove us to keep fighting. We see these people in the hall every day, and to hear them cheering us on gives us a great sense of pride.” An awesome spirit week was capped off by an exciting Falcons win. This Friday, October 4, the Falcons face St. Mary’s Ryken at home. Let’s bring out that same school spirit! Go Falcons!
