The Good Counsel community mourns the loss of Mr. Dennis Essig, a beloved Spanish teacher, mentor, and advocate for peace and justice.
Mr. Essig dedicated 42 years to our school, serving as department chair, Director of the Theater Company, Student Government Moderator, and host of the GC Coffee House. Known for his love of Don Quixote and his legendary incorporation of music into teaching, he inspired generations of students.
Mr. Essig is survived by his wife, Tonia, a current Good Counsel staff member and co-moderator of The Talon, and their sons Andrew ‘94, Nicholas ‘98, and Daniel ‘00, along with their families.
To honor Mr. Essig’s legacy, his funeral service will be held on campus on Monday, December 2nd. Classes will be asynchronous that day to allow our community to celebrate his extraordinary life.
May he rest in peace, and may his family find comfort in the love and prayers of our community.
