Our Lady of Good Counsel’s High School team has been very successful. In the past the team won the semi-finals for the silver tier. This year, 2022-2023,Team 1, composed of Andrew Niebur, Dean Rensburger, Connor Cavanaugh, John Godman,Evan Nicholas,and  Matthew Stripling also made it to the semifinals this year and placed 3rd in the state for round 2. Our Unix lead for team 1,John Godman, placed 6th nationally for his field. For the Loyola-Blakefield Cyber Competition, Good Counsel got 1st and 2nd for different tiers. One team composed of Andrew Niebur, Deans Renburger, John Godman, etc placed first. Another team composed of Nellie Squirlock, Evan Nicholas,  Xiaoyi Gao, and Chukwudalu Dumebi-Kachikwu placed second.  Due to these accomplishments, the future of Good Counsel’s Cyberpatriot team is almost blinding.

Unfortunately, many of the team’s experienced members are seniors leaving this year. In addition, the team plans to expand through underclassmen, which requires training. So next year will look vastly different than currently. Due to this, the team intends to steer this change in the best possible direction. In this spirit they are hoping to gain the status of a sports team for better funding. They are also expanding with a new computer rack to provide proper training with managing systems.. 

To summarize this best, CyberPatriot has planted the seeds for a generation of people who overcome their former selves in a matter of hours to aid others in their problems. Through this program, tournament and team students have gained the necessary skills of perseverance, camaraderie, research and critical thinking. These skills will aid them no matter where they go and due to this they are eternally grateful for the experience.
