Good Counsel Represented at NCAA Tournament
Bez Mbeng 21’ will be representing Good Counsel as Yale faces off against Purdue in the NCAA Tournament.
After defeating Princeton in the Ivy League Championship, Yale and Bez Mbeng, OLGCHS Class of 2021, will be representing Good Counsel in the NCAA tournament. Mbeng ‘21, the starting point guard for the Yale Bulldogs, finished the championship with 13 points on 4-9 shooting. He also led the team in rebounding in the game, finishing with 11 total rebounds. With 28 seconds left in the game and Yale leading by 3, Mbeng ‘21 hit two critical free-throws, cementing a Yale win.
At Good Counsel, Mbeng ’21 earned First Team All-WCAC honors his junior year during the 2019-2020 season, finishing that season, averaging 19 points with six rebounds and five assists.
Yale will face off against Purdue on Friday. Purdue finished the season with a 27-7 record, led by sophomore sensation and projected top-3 pick, Jaden Ivey.
Mbeng ’21 will be the first Good Counsel player to be in the tournament since Ben Hazel, OLGCHS Class of 2009, played in the tournament in 2011 for Princeton. Princeton would lose 59-57 to Kentucky in the first round after a Brandon Knight go-ahead layup with 2 seconds left.
