Booms of the Week
Quarterback:
Josh Allen: It has seemed that at times, Josh Allen has not performed to the caliber he had last year. His completion percentage, touchdown percentage, yards per attempt, and quarterback rating have all dropped. However, against Indianapolis Allen will have the chance for an explosive game. The Colts have been uncharacteristically poor on defense this year. They have allowed the fourth-most passing yards and the most passing touchdowns in the league.
Running Back:
Najee Harris: Najee Harris could not be off to a hotter start in his rookie campaign. Harris has recorded 963 scrimmage yards, to go along with 6 total touchdowns. This hot streak will continue against the Chargers this week. The Chargers have allowed the most running back rushing yards and second-most running back rushing touchdowns in the league
Wide Receiver:
Deebo Samuel: Deebo Samuel is in the midst of a breakout season, recording 979 receiving yards on 54 catches in 9 games. He will continue this great play against the Jaguars, who have a middling defense. The Jaguars have allowed the 9th most yards to wide receivers in the league and the 5th most receptions to wide receivers.
Tight End:
Mike Gesicki: Mike Gesicki has been a top fantasy tight end this season, with 44 catches for 529 yards. Compared to some of the other tight ends this week, Gesicki could have a nice matchup ahead. The Jets have allowed the 12th most fantasy points to tight ends, so Gesicki has the opportunity to have a nice showing.
Busts of the Week
Quarterback:
Russell Wilson: In his first game back from injury, Russell Wilson looked terrible, to say the least. In the first-ever shutout of his career, Wilson had a 50% completion percentage with 0 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. He looked out of sync with his receivers, and it seemed as if he was not as accurate as usual. To make matters worse, he has to face a Cardinals defense on Sunday that will give him trouble. The Cardinals have allowed the 5th least points per game and the 4th least yards per game. Wilson will struggle.
Running Back:
Austin Ekeler: Austin Ekeler has been the dynamic running back again this season, with 863 scrimmage yards through 9 games this season. However, against the Steelers, he will struggle. The Steelers have a stout run defense again this season. Led by T.J. Watt and Cam Heyward, the Steelers have allowed only 4 running back rushing touchdowns, tied for fourth in the NFL. They have allowed zero receiving touchdowns by running backs.
Wide Receiver:
Justin Jefferson: Despite the star cornerback Jaire Alexander being sidelined with an injury, the Packers’ secondary has held up so far this season. The Packers have allowed the sixth least wide receiver yards this season. They have also allowed the sixth least catches to wide receivers. While Jefferson is a top-tier wideout, he had struggled in two games against Green Bay last year, averaging only 2.5 receptions for 26 yards. All together, Jefferson is set up for a poor game.
Tight End:
Kyle Pitts: Kyle Pitts has had a phenomenal rookie season so far. Pitts has become a favorite target of Matt Ryan, recording 40 catches for 606 yards. However, Pitts will have to face a Bill Belichick defense that has defended tight ends well this season. The Patriots have allowed the second least yards to tight ends and the least catches to tight ends this season.
