Good Counsel’s Alumni Athletes
Where Are They Now?
For decades, Our Lady of Good Counsel High School has been regarded as one of the most elite athletic high schools in the United States. Competing in the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC), one of the most competitive high school athletic conferences in the country, Good Counsel has obtained numerous championships over the years in a broad array of sports. The school has sent countless young men and women into high level collegiate athletic programs. With all of this success, there were bound to be a select few that propelled past the collegiate level and onto the national stage in any number of sports.
BASKETBALL
Lindsey Pulliam: Good Counsel Class of 2017
- Lindsey Pulliam is a former GC basketball player who was named 2017 USA Today All-Maryland First team and 2017 Montgomery Private Schools Player of the Year.
- Pulliam, who currently plays for Northwestern University and was named 2019 All-Big Ten Conference team, also played on the U.S. Pan American Games Women’s Basketball Team.
FOOTBALL
Jelani Jenkins: Good Counsel Class of 2009
- Jelani Jenkins is a former GC linebacker who played college football at the University of Florida 2009-2012 and then was drafted into the NFL by the Miami Dolphins in the fourth round of the 2013 NFL Draft.
- Today, Jenkins is a free agent and will host a free Football Camp at GC this summer.
Stefon Diggs: Good Counsel Class of 2012
- Stefon Diggs is a former GC football player who also ran track. Diggs played college football at the University of Maryland in College Park. After his junior year, he declared for the 2015 NFL Draft and was selected in the fourth round by the Minnesota Vikings.
- Diggs finished the 2019 season with 63 receptions and 1,130 receiving yards and six receiving touchdowns for the Minnesota Vikings. The Minnesota Vikings lost to the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional Round of playoffs.
Kendal Fuller: Good Counsel Class of 2013
- Kendall Fuller is a former GC football player and ran track. Fuller played college football at Virginia Tech and was drafted by the Washington Redskins in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft.
- Fuller was traded to the Kansas City Chiefs in 2018 where he helped them win Super Bowl LIV on Sunday, February 2, 2020.
SOCCER
Margaret “Midge” Purce: Good Counsel Class of 2013
- Midge Purce is a former GC soccer player who was named Maryland Gatorade Player of the Year in 2012, NSCAA All-American in 2012 and 2010, and Washington Post Player of the Year in 2011 and 2012.
- Purce went on to star for the Harvard University Crimson in 2013-2016 before playing for the Boston Breakers, Portland Thorns FC and Sky Blue FC in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). Purce has also played for the U.S. Women’s National team.
Imani Dorsey: Good Counsel Class of 2014
- Imani Dorsey is a former GC soccer player and 2013 Washington Post All-Met Player of the Year. She went on to play for the Duke University Blue Devils from 2014-2017 where she was named ACC Offensive Player of the Year in 2017 and was a semifinalist for the prestigious MAC Hermann Trophy.
- Dorsey was drafted 5th overall by Sky Blue FC in the 2018 National Women’s Soccer League College Draft and was named 2018 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) Rookie of the Year.
Rachel Pocratsky: Good Counsel Class of 2016
- Former soccer player at GC, but after an ACL tear during her freshman year soccer season, Pocratsky decided to focus on track. By the time she graduated, she had the fastest 800-meter time in the state of Maryland.
- Pocratsky then went on to run at Virginia Tech while majoring in civil engineering.
- After graduating this spring, she will move back to DC and begin training with The District Track team full time and work towards her goal of making the Olympic team.
SWIMMING
Jack Conger: Good Counsel Class of 2013
- Jack Conger is a former GC swimmer and three-time Washington Post All-Met Swimmer of the Year who broke a national high school record in the 100-yard butterfly. He went on to swim at the University of Texas at Austin (UT), helping the Longhorns to three consecutive NCAA men’s swimming and diving national championships.
- Conger won a gold medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and has his sights set on the Summer Olympics in Tokyo in 2020.
WRESTLING
Kyle Snyder: Good Counsel Class of 2014
- Kyle Snyder is a former GC wrestler who had a 179-0 record during his first three years of high school. Snyder then went on to star at Ohio State where he was a three-time NCAA Division I National Champion.
- At the age of 20, Snyder won gold at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, becoming the youngest Olympic Wrestling Champion in history.
