Every year Good Counsel welcomes new faculty and staff, each with a plethora of knowledge and experience to offer Good Counsel. This year Good Counsel welcomes 18 new faculty and staff ranging from Teachers, to Campus Ministry faculty, a new school Nurse and even a new Principal. In this article, you’ll learn about some of their extraordinary experiences before working at Good Counsel.
Mr. O’Connor – Teacher – Social Studies
Mr. O’Connor serves as a Social Studies teacher, prior to his role at Good Counsel he worked at Elizabeth Seton High School for 5 years also teaching Social Studies. Additionally, Mr. O’Connor enjoys exercising, watching football and basketball, especially from his Alma mater University of Connecticut, and gaming.
Mrs. Hinz – Registered Nurse – Health Room
Currently, Mrs. Hinz is a part time Nurse at Good Counsel while working once a month at Georgetown University hospital in the Pediatric ICU. Mrs. Hinz is also an alum of Good Counsel having graduated from the Wheaton campus in 2004.
Ms. Owens – Teacher – Social Studies and Campus Ministry
Serving as a teacher within the Campus Ministry and Social Studies departments, Ms. Owens has enjoyed getting to know the student body. Also, before working at Good Counsel, she was an English teacher in South Korea through the Fulbright Program.
Ms. Droege – Development Associate – Advancement
At Good Counsel Ms. Droege supports the Advancement office, previously she worked with a small non-profit in Kensington Maryland that raised funds to benefit Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Washington and Baltimore.
Mr. Stromberg – Campus Minister – Religion, Other, Campus Ministry
Within the Campus Ministry Mr. Stromberg works to support the department’s planning and operations. Additionally, Mr. Stromberg has felt incredibly welcomed by the faculty, staff, and students at Good Counsel.
Miss Lewis -Development Associate – Advancement
Miss Lewis was attracted to work at Good Counsel because of the vibrant arts program, and focus on education. Also, before working at Good Counsel she worked in special events and development at non-profit arts organizations such as Aspen Music Festival and School, Bravo Vail! Music Festival and The Juilliard School.
Mrs. Ruszkowski – Campus Minister – Religion, Other, Campus Ministry
Through Campus Ministry and the Religion Department Mrs. Ruszkowski teaches religion, she especially enjoys teaching Period 6 Freshman Honors Religion. Furthermore, she enjoys spending time with her family, the outdoors and watching her kids’ soccer and ice hockey games.
Dr. Gluodenis -Teacher – Science, Campus Ministry
Dr. Gludoenis returns to the Good Counsel’s science department having left Good Counsel in 2010 when she was expecting her daughter who is now a Falcon. Previously, Dr. Gluodenis worked at the Wheaton campus having taught a variety of chemistry and physics courses, and served as the AP/IB and SAT/ACT coordinator for Good Counsel. Also, Good Counsel was Dr. Gluodenis’s first teaching position: “As a new graduate, I didn’t yet have a car, so I rode the metro to school along with many of the students. I worked at GC teaching various chemistry and physics course” – Dr. Gluodenis
Mr. Carlino -Teacher – Religion
Mr. Carlino teaches both Sophomore and Freshman religion classes and enjoys seeing students grow both in faith and knowledge. Also, he has taught theology in high school for 16 years, studied theology in Jerusalem for 4 years, enjoys going to the gym, cooking, spending time with friends, plays the video game “Hollow Knight: Silksong” and reads the Dune series of books.
Mr. Owusu – Principal – Administration, Campus Ministry
Mr. Owusu, Good Counsel’s newest principal, leads Good Counsel’s students and staff, seeking to provide productive leadership while simultaneously learning from his peers. Furthermore, while serving as Principal at Shady Grove Middle School he was the schools DJ for parties.
As we gradually settle into the school year hopefully you will take a moment to appreciate the commitment and dedication of Good Counsel’s faculty and staff. Hopefully, you learned just a little more about some of our schools newest Falcons, their backgrounds before working at Good Counsel, and their work in supporting Good Counsel’s student body.
