As the Christmas season swings into gear, new holiday movies have been released on Netflix. Meet Me Next Christmas has risen to the top 10 on the streaming giant. It features award-winning acapella group Pentatonix.
This movie is perfect for teens looking for a romantic comedy holiday themed movie to watch with family or friends. Several Pentatonix songs are placed tastefully throughout the movie without being too overplayed. There are many cheery Christmas movies out there, but Meet Me Next Christmas should be at the top of every teen’s must-watch movie list this December.
Meet Me Next Christmas is about lead character Layla (Christina Milian), who tries to make it home to her boyfriend in time to attend the sold-out Pentatonix concert. Her flight is delayed, and she ends up meeting James (Kofi Siriboe), a man traveling home to his family, in the airport lounge. As James leaves to board his flight, he makes a promise to Layla that they will reconnect at the Pentatonix concert next Christmas Eve.
As the concert grows closer and Layla can’t find a ticket, she hires Teddy, a concierge at a ticketing service, to help her find one. They scour the city, trying to find someone willing to sell their ticket. Every ticket lead falls through. During the search, the perspective switches to the Pentatonix performers, where they discuss the details Teddy has been sending them via Instagram.
Teddy’s cousin presents the pair with one final chance to obtain the tickets: Teddy and Layla must dance in a competition in order to win them. Teddy’s cousin provides a comedic relief to the story that hasn’t been present in earlier scenes.
The dance competition falls through; however, one final Christmas miracle will present itself at the end of the film.
Layla must decide who she will spend Christmas with: Teddy or James?
Other films released on Netflix in December 2024 include Mary, a biblical tale of the Mother of God; Churchill at War, a docu series about Winston Churchill’s impact on World War II; Disaster Holiday, a Christmas comedy, and more. Christmas break is the perfect time to explore new films and branch out!
