“Those Who Sing Pray Twice”

Good Counsel’s 2019 Gospel Concert

The 2019 Good Counsel Gospel Concert was one of the best seen at GC in years. The crowd was engaged, the singers were joyful, and the band was feeling the music. Of course, a special shout out to our very talented Mr. Spotswood who made the show happen! I participated in the gospel concert, and I have to say, from the stage, the show was even more spectacular. I could see everyone’s bright, smiling faces enjoying the music and dancing to the beat.

The Gospel Concert is and always has been my favorite concert throughout the school year. What many audience members seemed to enjoy the most was the performance of “Praise Looks Good on You.” Everyone was having so much fun during that song as the band pulled the singers through the music. From the stage, I noticed that some of the audience members were creating dance moves of their own. Mr. Spotswood brought life to his music, which made it so much more enjoyable. “Ten Thousand by Ten Thousand” was also a great hit because of the feeling that fell upon the choir during the song. The junior soloist, Olivia Booth, did a marvelous job and set the mood for that beautiful song. The audience members were able to pull out their flashlights making the PAC center look like a star-filled night sky.

Lastly, “Faithful is Our God” was spectacular. The band set the mood for that song, especially our drummer. Junior soloist, Nia Ramsammy, was simply marvelous and you could tell she was feeling the music. In the middle of the song, where the choir continued to crescendo, Nia and Mr. Spotswood shared a special moment that was so moving to see. The gospel concert continues to get better every year, and each year we have the amazing composer and teacher, Stanley Spotswood, and his fantastic singers to thank.
